Another bargain at the junk store. Bought it for 2-bucks and it included a nice rod with teflon insert eyelets! Got it because Uncle John was coming down to Mount Dora to go fishing with me, and we indeed used it. Had to repair a gear on the inside, which had a metal core, so I could rough it up and superglue it. Casts real nicely.
Wouldn't you know, as I was putting up a hanger for the next rod and reel in the garage, I knocked this one off and it fell to the floor, breaking the bakelite tab that holds the reel to the rod. I found a nut that fit and sawed off a portion of an automotive electrical terminal and used it. It does a nice job.
ReplyDeleteTook this rod N' reel with when I gave the BlueFin boat the first shakedown cruise. Once I established that I could trust the boat to get me back, I motored up to the I-90 bridge on the Mississippi at La Crosse and shut her down, dropping anchor. Casted safety pin lures for a half hour with no result. Didn't want to stay late on the river, so headed back skunked.
