This another germ bike. It's a nice cruiser and I had new tires and tubes put on it last year. 12-speed with six on the wheel and two on the crank. The spin gear feels nice and fast on level ground, but I can tell you that it doesn't climb as easily as the Activa. That's OK because it really cruises nicely. Seat is comfy too by comparison.
Rode it up the big hill on 5/11 and only went 100 revs but the top was in sight! Two days later I went up 125 revs and reached the beginning of the guard rail. On 5/14 I went to the top and it measured 168 revs. On 5/22 and 5/23 I biked up 100 revs. Here's the comparison so far:
ReplyDeleteUnivega 275 revs to top
Ben's LRER 234 revs to top
Raleigh 410 168 revs to top
I put 48 1/4 miles on this one in the past couple weeks, and it is ready to go to Madison for a stint.
Took it on the Black Earth route with the Bombay Bicycle Club. 27 miles including two hills, the first tantamount to my hill in Sparta and the second a real killer and tantamount to the hill behind our house, maybe even worse. I was able to keep up with two guys including the one that blew my doors off on the Univega two weeks ago, but I think he was going a little slower to accomodate the other guy. My chain came off after the 2nd hill and while I was working on it, 2 BIG German shephards came running and growling and barking down the farm driveway. I just jumped on and coasted to the bottom of a big hill and then put the chain on. I did much better on the flats with this bike, but I did get a slight feeling that my tires were a bit too low.
