Activa Trail Univega

This is a great bike.  I think it sold for around $365 new and this one is a rummage sale model and mine is green.  I love it.  Kept on the farm in Sparta.  21 speeds.  It is my go-to bike for doing the hills.  In lowest spin-gear it takes 275 4-stroke cycles to climb the big hill over in Cole's Valley.  It is a good work out but this bike can climb it.

  1. Pumped the tires up to 50-lbs, lubed the chain, and rode it up the big hill 5 times for 50-miles. 5/3 5/4 5/6 5/8 5/9. Few of the rides were chilly and windy, so got a good workout. Moving this bike to Madison.

  2. Took this bike on the Sun Prairie ride with the Bombay Bicycle Club, a 26.5 mile county roads romp with minor hills. I only kept with the lead pack a couple miles, then lost sight over a hill and made a bad turn which didn't cost me much in the way of mileage but I never found them again. Fortunately I had a map of the route and eventually met up with another rider whom I also could not keep up to for more than a few miles. Stumbled back into Sun Prairie and ate with them at a Greek Restaraunt. Lots of fun, but a 2-hour tough workout.

  3. Took the Univega on the bike path one time, about 12 miles down to the Cottage Grove end and then up to the I and back. Pretty good run...I think I can take it back to Sparta and experiment with some others on the Madison run.
